Pot 1 would receive water and light - we placed this pot on the windowsill.
Pot 2 would receive light but no water - this pot also went on the windowsill.
Pot 3 would receive water but no light - this pot was put in a dark cupboard.
Pot 4 would receive no water and no light - this pot was also put in a dark cupboard.
We also each planted a broad bean seed that we could bring home so we could observe what happened to
a seed when provided with the conditions needed for growth.
We completed prediction sheets and now all there was left to do was wait ....
Today, we looked at all four pots and recorded the results.
Pot 1 grew tall, green and healthy.
Pot 2 started to sprout but never grew.
Pot 3 grew but was limp, yellow and not very healthy.
Pot 4 interestingly, pot 4 also grew. It was not a healthy plant but it was not what we were expecting. We have concluded that even though the seed was not watered, the soil must have contained enough moisture for the seed to grow.
