In a thrilling final of our Winter League, Kildare led superbly by Shane Nevin, beat Eoin Byrne's Cork by a narrow margin in an absolute cracker of a match. The league was home to some brilliant football all throughout the winter and there was some fantastic displays in the semi finals and finals of all the skills associated with our great game.
The two line ups for the final were;
Kildare: Shane Nevin, Jamie Coy, Conor McCabe, Michael Adedeji, Eoghan Finn & Luke Walsh.
Cork: Eoin Byrne, Joe Reddington, Kelvin Olotu, Caolan Hanly, Jordan Hayden & Cian McGowan
Here are some action shots from the games. Enjoy.

A special visitor in Ms Byrne's class

We arrived in to school this morning to find a great surprise waiting for us. Our class fairy Réiltín left a letter wishing us a happy Christmas but even more exciting were the ingredients she left us to make our very own reindeer food. We decorated our bags, stuck a label on and then put 3 big spoonfuls of the reindeer food mixture in to our bags. We have to mind the bags carefully until Christmas eve. On Christmas eve we will sprinkle the reindeer food on some grass outside our homes - the glimmer in the moonlight will light the way for Santa and his sleigh and the reindeer will have something to eat after all their hard work! :)

If you would like to make your own reindeer food at home - here's how we did it:

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup porridge oats
  • 1 tsp edible glitter
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Method:
- Mix oats sugar and glitter in a small bowl until combined.
- Spoon into a snack-size ziplock bag and seal carefully until Christmas eve.

In Ms. Maher's Junior and Senior Infant Class, we are currently busy practicing our lines and songs for our Christmas play – The Nativity Story.

We hope that everyone will come to see it. We’ve been trying to make the hall as festive looking as possible. Check out our lovely Christmas Trees which we printed recently. We put paint on sponges, and printed the sponges onto white card. We had lots of fun making these with the sponges, but not as much fun tidying up afterwards – there was paint all over our hands!! :)

A big thank you also to the boys from Mr. Healy’s class who came down to help us with our printed trees – Eoin, Adam, Michael and Erlends – thanks boys! :)

In Ms. Maher's Junior and Senior Infants classes, we have been busy getting ready for Winter, and of course, Christmas in our classroom. We have been practicing really hard for our Christmas play, and we decided to really get in the Christmas spirit in our art classes.

We looked at some pictures of winter trees, and decided to try our hand at painting our own. Such a fantastic job was done, and everyone’s tree looks great – all unique and all wonderful :)

Make sure to come see our play on Thursday 18th December, and see the other fabulous art we have put up around the hall for Christmas ! :)

Recently Mr Healy's 5th/6th class finished our first class novel of the year, Diary of a Wimpy Kid by the author & illustrator Jeff Kinney. The boys really engaged with the novel, not happy with just reading the book, they also designed their own front covers for the book, created their own comic strips and also drew a 'Wimpified' version of themselves.
As a reward for their hard work, we made some Blood Red Velvet cupcakes in class just before Hallowe'en. Here is a slideshow of our baking skills :) If enough people comment below this post then we MIGHT just post the recipe too! :)

Engineers of the Future!

Mr Healy's 5th/6th class were recently handed a simple, but challenging, task; build a paper tower that could stand by itself for at least 30 seconds, using only a fixed amount of paper, scissors and masking tape. The boys has studied the worlds tallest buildings prior to their task, and they attempted to put this knowledge to the test, and build their own rivals to the Burg Khalifa & Empire State Building :)
There was lot's successful constructions and a special mention goes to the winning group of Aaron Shelley, Jamie McGowan & Eoin Byrne. Have a look at the gallery below to see our budding engineers at work :)
