                     Cross Country Club.....Ready....Set....GO!!

This week has seen the start of an exciting new club! On Thursday, boys from third class to sixth class participated in the school's new cross country club. The club had a fantastic turnout with sixteen boys eager to showcase their athletic talents. We started the session off with a short video introducing the sport and some of its legends and we spoke about the importance of pacing and healthy lifestyles. The boys were excited to get outside and give it a go for themselves.

After the all important warm up and stretching routine, the lads set out on a whole group jog of the 300 metre circuit. The boys familiarised themselves with the terrain before running a few more laps with intervals (steady running) incorporated into the run. We concluded a great training session with a one lap time trial. The boys showed great determination and resilience in testing themselves against the clock and the pictures below are testimony to their super efforts. It was fantastic to witness such enthusiasm from the boys, well done to all!

It is with great pride that we present to you our first bunch of Pupils of the Month. These 4 young boys displayed fantastic attitude, ability, behaviour, manners, effort and above all quality of character during the month of September. Their teachers' were effusive in their praise of these fine young boys and we are all very proud of them here at Scoil Naomh Pádraig.
So take a bow...Cian Marah, Cormac Doyle, Darryl Byrne & Daniel Hogan :)

We are lucky to live near some fantastic Horse Chestnut trees in the Curragh of Kildare, so it made perfect sense to make use of the plentiful supply of chestnuts at this time of the year and have a conkers championship!!
In a hard fought competition, Shane Nevin proved to be the Conker's King, pipping Aaron Shelley in a great final :) The boys really enjoyed this age old game and they are itching to go again, and have a crack at the champion himself, Shane Nevin :)
