Significance of the May Bush
On May Day 2013 the boys of 4th and 5th class re-enacted an old Pagan Tradition of decorating a hawthorn tree. They decorated a tree with ribbons, egg shells and recycled plastic strips.
Why do this?
1. To welcome the summer.
2. For good luck.
3. To bid farewell to supernatural forces.
4. To gain a pretty wife, long life and a candle for the May Bush.
