Over the last couple of weeks Junior Infants have been working really hard to learn their sounds- they have been playing Snap and Pairs, Spot the Sound and creating sound collages! In order to make the collages Junior Infants worked in groups to search through magazines and newspapers to find the sounds they now know. Each group worked on a different sound eg. 's','h', 'c'. In each group we had a leader, sound detectives, somebody to cut out and somebody to glue pictures to our sound pages. The groups worked well together and found pictures of things that started with the different sounds. The boys had great fun being sound detectives and using the scissors and glue to make their collages. They have learned many sounds already: s,a,t,p,i,n,c,k,e,h,r,m,d and have even started reading some words like sat, pat, pin, red and many more. We love learning each new sound with its action and song. A big thank you to the Mammies and Daddies for helping with homework each night, the work is really paying off!
