The boys in Ms. Byrne's class have been making fantastic progress in their Maths over the last couple of weeks. We have been playing a variety of games three days a week in our groups. All of these games are focused on Number- particularly Mental Maths, adding and subtracting. The boys have found many strategies to help them add large numbers quickly and have figured out how to use tools such as number lines and 100 squares effectively. Whilst it can be difficult at times, the boys have improved their group work skills, they have improved their listening and turn-taking skills. The boys have also gained a lot of confidence in taking on the role of spokesperson and reporting back to the class what they have learned in their groups on any given day. Here are some photos of the games and activities we have been playing. Thank you to Ms. Byrne for giving up her time in the class, Deirdre and Eva for helping out and parents for filling out and returning questionnaires.
Well done to all the boys and their parents for the fantastic effort put into the Food Dudes over the last couple of weeks. Don't forget to return your diary to school to earn a prize. It was fantastic to hear that so many boys tried new fruit and vegetables even if they weren't sure they would like them! Now it's over to you to keep up the healthy eating both at home and in school. There are some rewards for continuing to bring and eat fruit and vegetables in school but we are hoping that you will do so because you know these foods are healthy and you like to eat them! We have chosen Wednesday as our designated Food Dudes Day and if boys bring BOTH fruit AND Vegetables to school to eat on Wednesdays there will be a little reward from now until Christmas. Well Done on the great effort so far!
