As we have been learning about Day and Night, Light and Colour this week we decided to carry out a colour experiment today. We talked about our favourite colours, played I Spy, found different shades of blue (most popular!) and other colours in our classroom, discussed colour names as Gaeilge and talked about mixing primary colours red, blue and yellow to make purple, orange and green.
We then carried out a fun colour experiment and recorded our results by drawing pictures of what happened.
Here are the instructions to carry out the experiment.
You will need:
Bottles of food colouring (red, blue, green and yellow)
Whole fat milk
1. Pour the milk into a bowl.
2. Squirt some hand soap into a cup and placed three cotton buds inside.
3. Add a drop of each type of food colouring to the middle of the bowl.
4. Predict what will happen when a soapy cotton bud is placed into the centre of the food colouring.
5. Watch what happens!
This week Junior and Senior Infants have been preparing to welcome the season of Spring! We learned about Saint Brigid and how Saint Brigid's Day is also the first day of Spring. We discussed the new life to be seen around us in Spring- baby lambs, chicks, foals and lambs being born and the flowers and leaves which begin to grow. We went for a walk around our school to see if we could see any signs of new life, we found some daffodils which were growing. We used crepe paper to create bluebell and daffodil collages in Art. Take a look at our handywork!
