Kandinsky Circles inspired by music!

Recently, we looked at the artist Kandinsky and some of the pieces which he had painted. We had looked at Kandinsky before, but it was very interesting to learn that a lot of his work was actually created and inspired when Kandinsky was listened to certain music.
“… lend your ears to music, open your eyes to painting, and … stop thinking! ” Wassily Kandinsky
We decided that we were going to use this very idea for our art pieces. Each child was given a blank template of six squares. They were then played six sings, with each song representing a different square. The children had to use colour to interpret how they were going to paint their circle in the style of Kandinsky.

Songs used were:
Don't Worry, Be happy - Bob Marley
Skinny Love - Birdy
My Songs Know - Fall Out Boy
Galway Girl - Steve Earle
Somewhere Over the Rainbow -Isreal Ka'ano'i kamakawiwo'ole
Ai Su Tu Me Pego - Micheal Telo
