The children would be concentrating on flower paintings over the next while, so this exercise was used to help them to observe what they need to be looking for in their paintings. The children used white card and paint to create a simple painting of some flowers in a vase, complete with petals and leaves.
The children have being enjoying writing their acrostic poems all year. We decided that we would be doing a display using acrostic poems for each season – here is spring. We first talked about the different things that we associate with spring and the children came up with some key words on the topic. We then looked at some examples of spring acrostic poems before the children came up with their own. We first wrote SPRING down the side of the page, and then the children had to think of a spring – related sentence starting with each letter of the word spring.
