Carol Service 2013

13/12/2013

Well done to all the boys who took place in the parish carol service on Thursday 12th December.

The carol service took place in St. Brigid's Church in the Curragh, and the boys performed some Christmas songs as part of the school choir to members of the parish and the army. The boys had practiced for weeks, and the two songs which they performed on the night, "Walking in the Air", and "Wonderful Christmas Time" sounded brilliantly. A special thanks to Mr O Toole for the accompaniment on guitar.

The carol service ended with a light show, and as we were sitting on the altar for the show, we had one of the best views in the church - how lucky.

Well done to all involved, and all who took part - another brilliant carol service once again! :)

Thanks to Conor, in 4th Class who sent us in a wonderful photograph that he took the other morning.

Conor was awake very early on Wednesday morning, and was quick enough to take a picture of the glorious red sky that was out that morning.

What a photographer in the making! :)

What a day we had today!

We were fortunate enough to have two people come in for our Artist for a Day 2013 programme.
Peter and Joseph were full of helpful tips and ideas as they showed us how to come up with and create a pod cast, using ipads.

We first got divided into groups, where each group was asked to come up with an idea which could be worked on, and which they could talk about. The children had to come up with a name for their podcast, an idea of what their podcast could be about, and how they might be able to continue on that podcast if necessary.

When they had all decided on their ideas, they worked in groups to compose a script which they would work from while they were recorded. Joseph showed all the groups how to use the different apps to record themselves talking, while Peter worked on some of the scripts.

Everyone was so excited to hear themselves back after they had been recorded! :)

Have a look at how the day panned out,
and see for yourself just how much fun it was for everyone.
