A few boys were selected from our class, to go with volunteers who came in twice a week during April and May to practice their reading with them.
The club was great success, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the boys.
Well done to everyone involved!

![]() We recently had a very informative talk in school. A visitor from the organisation Barnados came in to give us a talk on cyber bullying, and the different things we could do to stay safe online. The following are just some of the tips which we learned about.
Most importantly, never, ever give out your name, address, phone number or personal information to someone online! Always check with a grown up first!! Please check out the Barnados website for more information on how to tackle cyber bullying. ![]() Today, we were very lucky to have Claire, a firefighter from Monasterevin Fire Station in to give us a safety talk on preventing fires. The most important thing which we had to remember if a fire happens in our house is to 1. Get out 2. Stay out 3. Call the fire brigade She also gave us some helpful tips if we ever did come into contact with a fire, and that was to STOP, DROP and ROLL!! She told us all about the different things which we could do to help prevent fires in our homes, including blowing out candles and making sure they are not beside anything flammable, to watch out for faulty wires and sockets, to not overload sockets with electrical items, to enter ashtrays regularly in our homes and to make sure our fireplaces are covered with a fireguard. One of the most important thing we could do is to check our smoke alarm once a week to make sure it is still working. Working together, and having a fire plan in our homes can help everyone in our family! |
